About Us

What do you love most about living in Upper Brookville?   Is it the beautiful flora and abundant fauna? The feeling that you are nestled in a Village filled with gorgeous trees and rolling hills that preserve a timeless “country” charm? The experience of getting away from it all in a quiet environment, where the beauty of nature captivates at every turn? Most of us would say yes to all of these things!

We are a group of concerned residents wanting to preserve the bucolic nature of Upper Brookville well into the future.  We are not alone in our desire to maintain a beautiful living environment.  In fact, we are very much in agreement with a statement on the Village website:

“The principle of protecting ‘what people moved here to enjoy’ has been a guiding light for succeeding Boards of the Village. I like to think that principle has grown stronger with each passing year.”

From A History of Upper Brookville: Introduction, by Alfred J. Seaman, Mayor (1966), p. i

One of the ways we hope to do this is by generating informed, productive dialogue about the placement of one, possibly two cell towers of 120-140 feet in our community.  We question whether or not these towers are the right technology for Upper Brookville.  Is it necessary to install two tall towers in a heavily residential neighborhood?  Are there other less intrusive, more aesthetically pleasing, and equally effective alternatives available?

We understand that gaps in cell service and dropped calls exist and must be remedied.  We’re in favor of installing the RIGHT wireless technology to give us reliable service.  By RIGHT, we mean the fewest, most minimally invasive cellular installations.

Our goal is to provide accurate, up-to-date information that gives Upper Brookville residents the knowledge and tools to ask the right questions of our elected officials as they deliberate the merits of cell tower applications on our behalf. We will provide key updates and educational resources designed to keep us all informed about Village proceedings as they occur.

This approach ensures we are taking great care to protect the overall beauty and residential character that Upper Brookville residents treasure as our legacy.

We want to protect the remarkable treasure that is our Village — “The scenic roadsides, wildlife habitats, woodlands, steep slopes and valleys are essentially irreplaceable natural assets that establish the character of the Village of Upper Brookville and are the values sought by Village residents.”

From the “Master Plan of the Village of Upper Brookville,” 2006, p. 12
